Jackie Bakewell (expected master’s degree from Hofstra University and NYS teaching certification, May 2023) is a Long Island-based music educator, vocalist, actress and director.

After graduating in May 2015 from Hofstra with a B.S. in Vocal Performance and minor in Musical Theater, Jackie continued her on-stage career in several notable projects, including but not limited to: Jekyll & Hyde Off-Broadway (Emma U/S), The Triangle Fire World Premiere (Lead), Rusalka U.S. English Premiere (Rusalochkat / Olga cover). However, Jackie found herself longing for the classroom.

Jackie returned to the world of education in 2017, this time as an educator, at a private early-childhood school (Kidville Garden City). She has since had the privilege of educating students at a music school (Bach to Rock Port Washington) and N-8 private Catholic school (St. Mary’s Elementary School) where she is located at present. Jackie’s current performing endeavors include: lead singer of two cover bands, The New Normal (www.thenewnormalny.com) and Spectrum (www.spectrumusic.net), music director / Soprano of “Best of Long Island” nominated quartet Santa Babies Carol (@santababiescarol), and Soprano in award-winning choral ensemble eVoco (www.evoco.vc). In addition to those projects, Jackie also jumps back in to the world of musical theater whenever she can, most recently in the original musical Unforgettable which performed at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. in June 2022. Notable directing credits include V-Day shows which each raised over $10,000 for charity, and “Songs For A New World” at Bach to Rock.

Jackie’s wide range of experience, both as a performer and educator, ensures that all of her students will achieve their goals in an engaging, productive way personalized to their learning style.
